Check this place out

I just recently got to walk through the new downtown Deseret Book store and wow- is it impressive! They have lots of original church history pieces on display (like the original admission tickets to the SLC Temple dedication) the store also has a 32-foot video wall, fine art studio, leather scripture re-binding service, and an old fashion candy by the pound counter!

I thought this was cool, the first DB store was opened in 1866 by George Q. Cannon, other events that were happening around the world at that same time:

- Queen Victoria was in the middle of her remarkable 64-year reign in England
- Napoleon III sat on the throne of France

- Abraham Lincoln was assassinated (April 14, 1865)
- The Civil War ended (April 18, 1965)
- American outlaw Butch Cassidy (Robert LeRoy Parker) was born in Beaver, Utah on April 13, 1866
- Anne Sullivan, tutor of Helen Keller, was born on April 14, 1866
- Beatrix Potter, English children's author, was born on July 28, 1866
- H. G. Wells, English writer, was born on September 21, 1866
- Leather edition of The Bible sold for $1.75 to $4.75
- Cloth edition of the Bible sold for 30 to 60 cents
